History:
✬ Raised by his father, Jacob Geiszler, and uncle, Illia Geiszler- both with careers involving music, so Newt grows up with the same appreciation for it.
✬ His uncle Illia is a musical engineer, who taught Newt the basics of electronics.
✬ He is 23 at the time of the first Kaiju attack, and that is when he starts to write Hermann Gottlieb, his future associate, over the next three years. They maintain a tightly-woven system until they meet in person three years later. They hate each other.
✬ Newt is the second youngest student to be admitted to MIT. He earns six doctorates by 2015, and teaches for six years. His specialty is biology, where he pioneers research in artificial tissue replication. He joins the Jaeger Academy the same year.
✬ He and Hermann are assigned to the Hong Kong Shatterdome, aiding the Defense Corps Rangers together. As the remaining two in the research division, they split focus- Hermann the mathematician, and Newton with his unparalleled biological knowledge.
✬ In order to better understand how the Kaiju work and think, he drifts with what is left of its secondary brain. The process is too dangerous to perform alone a second time to gather the rest of the necessary information, and he does so with a reluctant Hermann.

Personality: Newton is a very brilliant scientist, showing off his knowledge loudly and at every opportunity that he can get; because of this, he can come across as very rude and stubbornly set in his opinions. This much is shown in almost every meeting he has throughout the final stages of the Jaeger operation. Upon meeting Raleigh Beckett- who recognizes the Kaiju tattoo upon his arm- he gets very excited and boasts Yamarashi's power and statistics, stating that he wants to see a Kaiju face to face. This upsets Raleigh due to past traumas in the field as a Jaeger Pilot. He's very enthusiastic about a lot of things: Kaiju, giant monster movies, anime and manga, as well as a varying degree of sciences. This enthusiasm can be overbearing, even giving others the impression that his maturity is akin to that of a twelve-year-old boy. He has an open fascination with finding new information, and is always dissecting something preserved parts of Kaiju that have been harvested to make sure he has a complete understanding of their anatomy. His energy knows no bounds, and is seen constantly moving through his shared lab with Herman Gottleib, much to the latter's chagrin. His music is loud, he is messy, and some part of him has to be moving at all times, whether it is his hands, or bobbing his head. His presence can be a bit overwhelming to someone who is not used to his constant movement and rapid-fire speech.
These displays are all typical of his near-constant manic state. Newt has grandiose plans of being considered a 'Rock Star' in the scientific field for his discoveries and understanding of the Kaiju in their continued breach of the planet. Hermann continually calls him foolish for wanting to stick his neck out for a possibility and not a certainty- to which he replies with "Fortune favors the brave, dude." He willingly puts his own safety on the line in order to further his own scientific discovery. He shows this by hunting down Hannibal Chau, a very powerful man who runs a black market of Kaiju remedies, in order to obtain a second Kaiju brain to drift with- even though the first had very negative side-effects for him. He gets it, though it comes at a price-- coming face-to-tongue with a Category four Kaiju, Otachi. Even scared out of his mind as he is by the encounter, he is still willing to risk in all for the sake of discovery and closing the 'door' the kaiju have been using to get into their world.
Newt has very good intentions and is very open and sincere, although he is very intrusive and narcissistic, so he tends to come off as offensive. He wears his heart on his sleeve, but because of his manic state, he tends to say whatever is on his mind the second he has it. He enjoys people- and is even seen socializing with some of the other Jaeger pilots at one point. He has a very good work ethic, getting so involved that he forgets to do simple things like stopping for food or sleep. He becomes fixated until the job is completed, or at the very least Newt is satisfied with the results. While he does immerse himself fully into his work, he loves being around people (and definitely showing off a bit whenever they happen to grace his lab). It was shown through a Drift sequence that he was very active in different activist groups when he was in college and seemed to get along with his peers and eventual students. Newt doesn't get along very well with the near-polar opposite Gottleib, though neither have tried since becoming reluctant partners. The two can never seem to be in the same room together without it devolving into a shouting match. He favors speculation based upon research over the stuffy and by-the-book facts. The two have gotten into many screaming matches, and Newt has even been reported by Hermann for harassment, though the multiple complaints have largely been ignored.
Abilities: Certified genius with over six Doctorates to boast. He's got infinite knowledge about a lot of useless things, as well as lots of very useful science topics.

He's not sure what it is exactly, but he slides his fingers open to venture a look around.
Color him surprised that he's not only not in his cluttered and tiny quarters, but he's also not on the ratty and very much used sofa thrown in the only amnesty space in his shared lab with Hermann. In fact, his surroundings aren't familiar in the least. It's been a long time since he's been able to admit that he's woken up in some place unfamiliar. Throwing his legs over the side of the cot, he jostles the communicator he hasn't discovered until now.
There is a collection of loud noises being broadcast as he shuffles around, drops the communicator on the ground, and picks it up again. Somehow, it's still broadcasting as audio.. Newt favors a look around, green eyes looking for one particular thing to focus on, though seemingly having trouble. That is until--]

[ The broadcast finally switches over to video as Newt all but runs to the observation deck, mouth agape and eyes absolutely sparkling. He's living the anime dream.
Curling his hand into a fist, he raps his knuckles on the window and decides this is very much real, though he still can't wrap his mind around it. Giant monsters invading earth through a rift in the middle of the ocean? Sure. Just-as giant robots in order to fight the giant monsters invading earth through a right in the middle of the ocean? Absolutely.
But space? Being in freaking space? He can't deal with the boyish glee and he lets out a whooping holler, punching the air like he's ten years old. ]
Hey, Hermann!! You've got to check this ou-- ….right. Uh. Herm? You there, dude? Or am I just.. talking to myself again? Please let there be Kaiju...
